Kima Otung is an award-winning Welsh-Nigerian pop and R&B artist, producer and entrepreneur on a mission to stir self-belief around the globe.
Her music fuses pop, R&B and soul with the classical and gospel sounds that shaped her. It has travelled from BBC Radio 1 live sessions to dance moments at the Great Wall of China, and onto screens through Netflix, ITV, MTV, Amazon Prime, BBC, Channel 4, Budweiser and Zumba.
A magnetic performer, Kima represented UK music at the FIFA World Cup as a “Best of British” artist, headlined Budweiser’s BRIT Awards showcase, performed at BAFTA and was invited to 10 Downing Street in recognition of her contribution to UK arts and culture.
Her honours include Best Single at the Black Welsh Music Awards for “I’m Cute” and the PRS Momentum Award. Google Arts & Culture and TRENCH recognised her as a Future Leader in Black British Music and Culture.
From opera to independence
Kima joined the Welsh National Youth Opera at 14. She later trained and worked as a corporate lawyer before returning to the creative path she had always imagined. Today, she writes and produces most of her own music.
She is also co-founder of Insidr Music, a direct-to-fan subscription platform helping independent artists earn more from unreleased music and build sustainable careers.
Her debut album, The Immigrant Kid, is out now.
